The Clothes Thread

Well, go ahead and dress in whatever way makes you happy, just be warned that it's almost impossible for an adult to pull off a vest. It is impossible for a teenager.

I guess for fedora tipper reasons.

No, it's the fact that a vest needs to be tailored to fit perfectly and be accompanied by a well tailored suit or it looks ridiculous. If you just grab one off the rack odds are you'll end up looking like some kind of fedora tipper.

Glorious socialism strikes again.

Got the woman a surprise from toxic vision for being extra special these last weeks. It was lost in the mail for awhile so I'm glad to have it in hand.

She's going to flip out when she sees this

Lovely, it'd look good with any woman's equal voluptuousness. The way they model stuff is odd, which I guess is the whole point.

She's also the person who makes the clothes. She very rarely shows her face, and when she does it's normally painted or masked.

So, I may have another edition of my white tie; this time more fitting than anytime before, but I still need to find a place where they sell a decent myrcella cotton fabric that would not cost me an arm and a leg.

So far the status of getting the right white tie:

Tailcoat: Norwegian-made, circa 1950s; 17E
Trousers: bespoke - tailored by a kind lady from a theatre; 80E including fabric (that I spend like a year finding)
Waistcoat: Czechoslovakia, circa 1960s; 19E; remade into completely different cut by me (lousy job, I need to resew the buttons)
Bowtie: bespoke / MTM (how do you even say it for bowties?); 17E
Shirt: made by me since myrcella-fronted detachable collar shirts are around 100E around here and that is far too much for me. With supplies and everything (fabric for the stiff front, fabric for cuffs, detachable collar and collar buttons as well as pseudostuds), around 14E.  My white-tie cufflinks with those little chains broke, so I have the regular ones that work horribly with stiff cuffs. Will make a new serious one once I find a fabric more suitable for starching than those I already tried.
Suspenders: Czechoslovakia, circa 1970s; 17E
Shoes: Loake Elland Black, not really sure about the price (180E?), got them for 90E from a guy who ordered them from England and picked a wrong size.
White carnation: 1E

That puts that around 255E; with 165E being more reasonable price as the shoes are not exclusive and can be used much more frequently than the whole full evening attire.

Thanks! I think the price will go up a little in the future, since there is still a couple of things I want to have done (embroidered buttons, most of all).

But yeah, hunting for prices does pay off - off-the-rack tailcoat + trousers are around 300E, but they are absolutely horrible as far as the quality of work is concerned, the cut is horrible and the fabric is awful as well. That theatre lady would make the tailcoat + trousers for 400E including the fabric. Regular tailors start at +- 550E; the expensive ones would do it for around 1500E and those that do tailoring for rich people would probably charge around 2500E because reasons (muh exclusivity). The funny things is that I am almost sure nearly none of these tailors would know how to make a tailcoat properly.

Surprisingly, ripped jeans and crop tops are back in fashion it seems. Loads of students on campus are wearing them. Some boys even wear flannel shirts. It really looks like Nirvana is throwing a concert later today or something

It's true.

That reminds me, I actually heard someone playing Nirvana at school today.
