New Version change list (versions .890 - .894)
« on: September 17, 2007, 07:34:42 PM »
Since plenty of people keep asking 'what's the difference between version .xxx and version .xxx' I figure we might as well start keeping the info somewhere :)

Keep discussion down to a minimum in this thread. If you want to talk about the changes, use an existing (or start a new) topic in the board.

Updated changelist so far.

(Okay, I just HAD to think of something to point out the numbness of the skull one post above).
Edit: Since Archonsod deleted the post above me, let's not make it look like I'm calling him a numbskull :D

Horse modifiers for AI/NPC units take effect it seems. After battling the NPC leaders several times, it seems that their Lame Horses actually affect them, too. I like that. However, they should get replacements afterall.

I can't believe no one has mentioned the huge changes in trading. The option to asses trade goods prices to see how much you can earn per item by going to different places, the difference in price depending on how much you buy (the less there are left in  the store, the more it costs and vice versa), the menu with all stores accesible without walking in to the town scene, the ability to trade with villagers for really low prices for what they produce. A more realistic economy to put it short, and much more fun playing as a merchant.
Silver is a hilarious tranny in a corset singing Time warp repeatedly over and over. He is absolutely fantastic.
Gold is overrated sweetheart. I show more appreciation for the silver stars that shine so bright.

Twinkle twinkle little star for bright you are.

Companion skills work differently. If a companion is listed as wounded in red, you will not recieve any of their party skill bonuses until they recover. The bonuses seem to work differently, as there is a "+" sign in brackets now instead of a negative. Not sure if that's working or if it's a bug.

CTRL + Space (hold them down)- causes time to pass faster while on the world map. Pretty redundant nowadays though, if you want to wait for any length of time you'd be better off camping...

I know, I figured that the first time I played it! It was awesome.

But, you might as well press the Camp button, because then you go at about the same speed in the "waiting" thing.

When you go to the character export screen, there are some statistics such as Enemy Killed, Troops Wounded, Friendly Killed, etc.

Ctrl+Space actually moves quite a bit faster, allowing you to pass through a single day in ~30 seconds, give or take.

By the way, I read through Highelf's changelist and I'm pretty sure it's missing the changes to Damage and Armor. All item stats buffed, damage dealt & taken increased from .808

AI can completly conquer all cities and castles of enemy factions !

A small snipet of my game here, to illustrate how far it goes :

--------------------------

In my game, arround day 300, Swadia is no more. Only villages remain and tiny party of 15, mostly militia. Ocasionaly a party of 90 surface but it rarely last long.

Rhodock (not my nation, but an ally) got all Swadian towns and one Kherjit town
Unfortunately, Vaegir, my kingdom is nearly in ruins too, thanks to Kherjit (stole Reyvadin) and the Nords (both Kherjit and Nords occupied Khudan, which we retook only once)

It sure feel a lot more lively than before ! Vagir attempting to rise from ashes !
Just wait and see (Astarsis attempt to rally a few peasants to his cause  :| )

--------------------

Another thing, player can be given castles and even towns as fief. I got Khudan when it got liberated
It generate revenue (a lot !), but right now it cannot be managed or garisoned

-------------

Final tidbit: if you play with a particular play style, you may make some very special friends and allies. But they don't show up on the map

friend: Rhodock Sharpshooter !
(Sounds like Robin Hood, he's not on the lords list... I used to have a friendly lord listed as friend before)
enemy: The Dark Knight ! (I'm not kidding - it used to be Haema of the Nords before)

What I did was rescue villages and stop pillaging, and starting to do more toll duty on caravan rather than slaugter them. Anyhow, I think that was what provoked the change. You remember what the Dark Knights do, right ?

The slow-mo key is now Ctrl+F9, but with how it is you can't move with it on. You can still hit, just not move.

So far the only way I see to fix this is to put the toggle on a "G" key.

In .891, the reports are split out from the camp menu into their own button, and there is an additional report for party size (appears only partly functional, though.)

Your character's renown now seems to update properly in the list of characters.
