State of decay/Class3 an open world zombie survival game

Users who are viewing this thread

So I found out about this game which is in alpha right now and it looks pretty good.

I've found a couple of gameplay videos demonstrating the game itself and it is honestly well made and I cant wait to see how it turns out.

It started out as an Xbox live arcade downloadable game, but now it is announced that it will be available on PC

Wacha guys think?

Also another zomfie game  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHkhx0zF1uI&feature=related

Oh c'mon, someone has to have an opinion on this... please?

I personally think its awesome, the engine looks promising and that dude mentions that they will use it in their other MMO game called ''Class4'' I figure it's another zombie surival MMO but we'll see.

It looks extremely casual (acopolypse = all cars open+fueled), which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but doesnt strike my particular fancy. The thing that i find interesting in survival games - be it zombie or otherwise - is the big risk to fail and die.

This seems more like... an openworld slaughter fest with upgrade bits.

Ehhhh, it looks a lot like Grand Theft Auto set in a world with zombies. Third person only is a really huge minus in a zombie survival game IMO, and the combat looks really hokey (swinging a melee weapon that knocks back several zombies, ammunition that finds its target even if player aim sucks, etc...) Being able to find NPC survivors out in the world who may then join your community and help in various ways sounds promising, but overall I'm not super excited about this one.

It looks like a console version of DayZ made by the developers of Dead Rising. That's not nesseccarily a bad thing, but we'll have to wait and see.

Doesn't really look like a simulator though. That's what I assume the sim stands for.

I disagree, this looks like a new casual zombie survival game, one when you get tired of constantly dieing in DayZ/Dead Linger where you can blow some steam off by slaughtering zomfies with your vehicle!

Looks exactly like my type of game. We have too many DayZ clones popping up in this genre. I'm more than looking forward to something that feels more casual.

Slow down, it's not cool to make fun of DayZ yet.

Dang hipsters.

Interesting: http://undeadlabs.com/2012/11/news/state-of-state-of-decay/

In particular, the "what if death remains death" part. Doesn't look like it will be all too 'casual', and even if it doesn't happen to be a hardcore zombie apocalypse simulator I am honestly quite excited for it.

You only waited 6 hours. There was no need to do this (unless it went onto page 2).  :???:

And I thought it looked interesting when I watched a video of it last week or so, though I doubt I'll buy it.

I do love posts where the game in question isn't even linked in the OP, makes it so much easier to find it that way.

Eh my coworkers were talking about it at work and it sounded pretty fun so I picked it up. It actually is a good bit of fun though not especially hard. I lost one character in a decent amount of hours.
You build up your base which can be placed at a number of locations. Though they provide your first one via story. They only have a certain number of expansion slots and some places can only be run by trained experts. Naturally you have to gather the building resources to even build those. You also need to stay stocked on medicine, food, fuel and ammunition.
You can swap out characters as they get fatigued as when they stay out to long they're stamina gets capped lower and lower. Same applies with injuries but you can pop painkillers for that. You character start with certain skills and they increase as you use them. Wit helping you search, fighting, powerhouse making you hit harder and so on.
You can set up additional safe houses in any building to give yourself extra storage points.
You can control multiple characters who all grow more skilled as you use them doing certain things.
Everything makes varying degrees of noise to attract zombies.
Missions pop up all the time. Seems like hardly anyone can get things done but you with how much I have to save people.

It does seem to have rip of special zombies to make more a threat. Hunter from L4D basically, fat zombies that ram buildings like a batter ram and hit hard, dunno what the explosive ones are called yet, and screamers that don't actually attack but attract every nearby zombie.

Overall it's pretty fun for what the game cost me and I'm not feeling any regrets.

Anyone know if the PC port is any good? Seems that you need an Xbox controller to play it.

It works, is what I can say.
Settings/options are a joke and the game isn't the prettiest, but it works.

And yes, a 360 pad is required for now.
Works really well with it though.

Woah, somehow missed the news that they released the PC port. Cool beans.

I was horrified by this:
