So why does Fox suck?

Users who are viewing this thread

Because they are slimy, partisan, and flexible with things like facts and journalistic integrity. FOX is not "fair and balanced" in any sense; it is a Republican propaganda machine.

Global warming is a myth; fighting global warming comes at the expense of fighting terrorism; Al Gore compared to Joseph Goebbels, leader of the Nazi propaganda machine.

Here, FOX News is actually arguing that Universal Healthcare causes terrorism. I wish I was making this up.

FOX News using shady journalistic tactic to slip more political commentary into their news:

Now for some screencaps. These are my favorite

Civil War in Iraq:

The civil war was made up by the media!

Oops, sorry! Our bad. Guess it is real after all. But maybe it's, ya know, a good thing?

Coverage of the Mark Foley scandal. For those who aren't aware, Foley was a Republican representative from Florida, and after a number of sexual e-mails sent by him to underaged pages in his staff came to light, there was a lot of controversy and with the controversy came a lot of shame for the Republican party. FOX News repeatedly misreported Foley as a Democrat, and suggested more than once that Harry Reid (Democratic minority leader at the time) should resign out of shame:

"Democrat Scandals"

Election, 2006:

Can you see FOX News's coverage of the Democratic victory in Senate elections? I can't either.

Oh, THERE it is.

Yeah, but you can get BBC in the artic.

Channel 4 news tends to have a wee bit of a bias in some areas, and I hate that stupid Paxman-lite interviewing style Jon Snow seems to have adopted. Seems to have confused "bark question loudly at interviewee everytime they open their mouth" with "ask probing question and refuse to let them wriggle out of an answer".

Actually, there's a lot of valid evidence that says Global Warming is a myth (and I believe it) but saying we can torture people is a little too far.

It more so the fact that they are so adamant that it's a myth.

er, that is to say, the globe is warming, yeah, but it's not due purely to silly carbon dioxide emmissions, and the majority of it is natural. Whew.

I just heard of something that may help shed light on the failure of most US media. Check out Bill Moyers Buying the War. There is a you tube link for an excerpt somewhere if I can find it...

Bill is a pretty neat guy, Im really glad he came out of retirement. I never knew he was white house press secretary for Johnson http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Moyers.

What news does everyone get?

I listen to KPFA/Pacifica (my homepage link), the first and only listener supported, non-commercial radio in the United States they have all of thier shows archived for free back to at least 2003 on thier website. I catch a program called Flashpoints http://www.flashpoints.net/ daily.  I also listen to the listener supported  and corporate underwritten National Public Radio all things considered, PBS Frontline and Jim Leher news hour, and local ABC CBS and NBC news at varied times (my father always says to hear both sides). I mostly listen to KPFA as I am a voting member there (by making at least a $25 contribution annually).

I frequent many websites dealing with certain regions in focus like Venezuela http://www.venezuelanalysis.com/, Haiti http://www.haitiaction.net/ and Palestine/Israel http://electronicintifada.net/new.shtml. All of these websites I got from the Flashpoints show.
