Macedonian cavalryman: The armour and equipment of Philip V was probably a more
elaborate version of this style. Supply was a constant preoccupation of Roman generals
because the superior Macedonian cavalry made foraging difficult.

Culture clash: A Roman hastatus at Pydna finishes off a Macedonian phalangite. Once the
ranks of a phalanx were broken, the individual Macedonian soldiers were no match for the
greater ferocity and superior equipment of the legionaries.
