yes we probably split celtiberins in 2 parts (Celtic+ Iberians)

about cartage well the idea is mainly to get nude unique as possible factions without mercenaries on it
and to do a mercenary ability to join in battle as a different faction troops
The uniqueness of a Carthaginian army is to have mercenaries from all different cultures. They're not purely one group of people. The closest culture they can base off of, are the Phoenicians. Which the Carthaginians took after.

A post of warning.

Be careful not to mix up Libyans or Liby-Phoenicians with your Carthaginians.

Also, I would highly suggest to not include the Sacred Band in the native Carthaginian Army, if your going to call them anything, just call them Noble Hoplite and Noble Cavalry. Calling them "Sacred Band" will make a huge debate among the history fanatics, because their name disappears after the 4th C BCE, but it's 100% possible that nobles still fought as units in the army (Sacred Band was formed by Nobles anyway, so they're the same thing). Just pointing that out

I have a rough idea about the Carthaginian army but we always do a more in-dept research before doing anything.
About the Sacred Band, even if we called them that way I doubt we would raise any polemics as of yet the biggest debate was a request to bring back the Imperial Army when the mod is set since its creation to the 3rd Century B.C. .
Anyway we will try to do the correct thing historically-wise.

My scarce knowledge of the Carthaginian Army and Organization:
Native Carthaginian only fought in specialized units related to religious figures or in rare occasions a militia was raised to help defend a city (which was the case of the siege of Carthage).
The rest of the military structure depended on mercenaries levied from non Carthaginian peoples (Lybians, Liby-Phoenicians, Numidians, Iberians, Celts and Greeks).
By the 3rd century B.C. the political charges were divided in a council of elders, some sort of Republic.

That's the rough idea that I have about Carthage, I will obviously make a decent research before doing anything to correct any misconception I might have.

Pretty basic research thread I found on the internees:

Big problem revolving around finding sources on Carthage, and that's the fact it didn't have a uniformed military like Rome. Alot of mercenaries, not much of a standing army aside from it's Navy.

However, there seem to be some limited sources on the Carthaginian Army, most notably the Sacred Band Hoplites, recruited from the Jewel of Africa herself. (Note: Alot of these sources are either fan art or game based, but they seem accurate based on armours and weapons used around the turn of the first Punic War).

Whats wrong with a faction comprised of mercenaries? Gives too much diversity that it makes it OP?

Good god no, nothing is wrong with it game wise, it's the fact that since they're mercs, I imagine they had a whole host of different armours, weapons e.c.t. that would be to vague and individual to actually have source references on it.

Away with you, vile beggar!

chartage definately not be a faction in next version
so far chartage have just few items, but carthage might be one of the bigest factions by the number of items they might use.
priority drops more on other factions (mostly italians) cause chartage used a lot of other factions items

so far i can say that today we at least have quite good research in carthagian inventory look and with good research things go way faster than without it.
