Histoire
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The 88e was formed from the "Berwick" Regiment of French Line Infantry. The Berwick regiment was part of the Irish Brigade. This was a brigade of Irish Rebels and Exiles that joined the French during the Williamite wars in Ireland. In return, the french sent 30000 more experienced Line Infantry to Ireland. The men swore their loyalty to the King of France, but when the King was overthrown they stayed loyal to France to spite the English Crown that had sent them from their homeland. They became the 88e, and fought in many engagements over the years, earning themselves many distinguishments and Napoleon's personal thanks, Which was given to all former Irish Brigade Regiments.

I was searching for info on your regiment to make a flag for you, but i came across the fact that there was no 87e Regiment of Line Infantry during the empire. They existed pre Empire and during the Revolution as the 87e Demi-Brigade but after that it looks like it seized to exist. If you guys are determined to use this name PM me later and i shall see if i can make a flag for you, but I recommend you pick one which was there during the empire.

... ****.
Thanks for pointing it out. I had assumed that since it was formed with the forming of the Republic....
I'll look into changing. So much for the Historical value. I chose this Regiment 'cos it was made up of Irish Rebels against the English Crown.

Anyways.
