Within the Oldenburgische Grenadier-Batallion we wish to stay disciplined as much as possible while still keeping the fun part within our group. We are not a large clan and would never want to become this. We want it to be a fun environment for all of our members, in which everyone knows each other well. We do not wish our member size to grow over 40 members in the roster and twenty in the field. From experience we saw it is a lot more fun to have a small group, since problems are less likely to occur and in-game we are capable of spending more time on single members to train them into combat.

This regiment had been set up as the RGL in early September, 2010. Our original goal was to create one of the more disciplined regiments in the community. We had an highly active group of twenty players of which most showed up every single event. After the battle of Wavre, we split up with most leaving the regiment. The remainders fought as artillery because of the lack of men. Luckily, right before it died, it was revived by a huge recruitment run. After having enough members once again, the regiment changed back to line infantry and renamed to the 2de Regiment der Nederlanden in August 2011. We chose this name because we wanted to be authentic, and no one else yet had a Dutch regiment. In the start of 2012 our regiment faced the difficulty of losing this authenticy, since many more Dutch regiments were formed. We decided to rename yet again, to the Oldenburgische Grenadier-Batallion, its current name.

Oldenburg itself was an independent nation, though did not have the capability of fielding enough men for an own army. Instead of this their men joined Danish and French ranks throughout the Napoleonic wars. Oldenburg had eighthundred professional soldiers in total, mostly being Fusiliers and Grenadiers. They had another small regiment of Landwehr soldiers, being about eighthundred in size aswell.

Within the Danish army, three battalions of Oldenburgers, including the grenadiers were placed into the Vanguard Corps. They were the ones to first head into battle, and push the enemy lines back. The Danish Vanguard was known for it's supreme tactics on the battlefield and capability of pushing back enemies with merely any casualties.

31 May 1809, The Battle of Stralsund.

For the second time in the wars of Napoleon, the small city of Stralsund was a bloody battlefield of streetfighting.

After the Tribseer Tor gate was breached, the army of Dutch and Danish soldiers combined stormed the streets filled with Schill's Freikorps who unsuccesfully rioted against France. Danish and Prussian soldiers fought in the most bloody streetfights ever seen. The Oldenburgers succesfully, with only one batallion of fourhundred men, pushed back the Freikorps soldiers at the eastern streets of Stralsund. Once the Danish reached Ferdinand von Schill himself, he was killed without hesitation and his army surrendered not much after. Eleven of his officers were captured, given to France and taken who were later executed in Wesel. Schill's head was taken to a park in Leyden to be displayed.

Battle of Sehested. December 10th, 1813.

The Danish Vanguard reached Holtsee in the early morning, where it stopped to wait for the main force. Quickly after, the first blood was shed when a Russo-German  regiment of Hussars advanced towards Sehested and were surprised by the Danish Vanguard, who quickly disarmed the hussars.

After the Danish main force reached the town of Holtsee, the vanguard once again advanced, this time towards Sehested. They were given two cannons and were ordered to defend the town by all means.

After fierce resistance, the enemy battalions were pushed back to the northern part of Sehested and took cover for a final defence. The Oldenburgers charged the enemy position, with the grenadiers leading the regiment. Despite murderous defensive fire of the enemy, they proceeded to overrun the enemy position. At 10:30, the entire town of Sehested was in Danish hands. three battalions of Russians and prussians advanced up on Sehested once again but were pushed back over  the bridge at Osterrade. One of the battalions, the 5th, moved down the road to retake Sehested but were halted by three companies of Oldenburgers. The Oldenburgers were soon to be relieved from being heavy outnumbered by the Fynske Regiment of Light Dragoons, who charged the 5th battalion. The Oldenburgers advanced to aid the cavalry, taking a huge number of prisoners in the fight. The situation was not yet in favour of the Danish, several enemy battalions were pushing into Sehested from multiple sides but the situation soon changed, when three Danish Battalions led by captain Romeling appeared in the northern part of Sehested. At 15:00 the battle was won.
