Master Knight
DaBlade soundpack

Version: 1.2
File Size: 1.29 MB
For M&B Version: .89x

Download link: https://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?cid=10&id=434

*********************************

This is the result of my efforts to enhance M&B battle sound effects, based on the previous work from Arbalest (Warrider soundpack). With his permission I bring you this reworked and (hopefully) improved soundpack for M&B.

Enjoy!

DaBlade

Features:

- Compatible with M&B .89x and Rejenost's vocal pack.
- Uses native "sounds.txt" file.
- Nearly all battle sound effects edited or replaced with new ones.
- Balance between sounds totally reworked.
- Sample rate of sound files converted from 44.100 to 22.050 KH to decrease file size (you will not notice any loss of quality).

Version history:

1.2

- Several sounds changed/edited for better balance and increased realism.
- New bow sound.
- New throw sound.

1.1

- Changed sound *sword_hit_hi_armor_hi_dmg_1.ogg*.
- Changed sound *bow_shoot_4.ogg* (bow sound).
- Edited sound *s_swordSwing.wav* (weapon swing sound).
- Added battle horse sounds (just edited native horse sounds to have more punch and low end).

1.0

- First public release

Feel free to post any comments or suggestions after you try it.

Just tried these, they are fantastic, very nice quality of the sounds and i dig the "oomph" they give, they are not weak as in vanilla. To give you my opinion theres only 1 sound that i feel could be better, the hit on high armor, i wouldve hoped for some more "CLANG" sound instead of the pretty usual "SPAT".

Thanks for the reply, Cataphract. Yeah, I know what you mean, I had like 10 versions of that sound and that one made it to this first release. I'm not happy with that one and maybe a couple others, but I intend to update the pack whenever I have time for it.

Even though I loved the warrider's soundpack, HW soundpack is number one for me now
Good work anyway, Blade..

Which one is that Merlkir? I'd like to check it out.

I like all the sounds here except for the bow shooting sound.  The initial part of it is good, but the quiver sound at the end of it, just dosn't fit.

That was the best bow sound I could get at the time of release, but I think I have a better one already.

it hasn't been released yet. It's in the private HW beta. I'll upload the sounds to rapidshare for you.

Unfortunately all weapons share that sound (we should be able to have different sounds for different weapons). I'll try to find a better one for the next version.

swords actually go swoosh when you swing them  not as loud as in the game though..

Well if you swing it fast it should make some sound. The sound I used it's probably a bit loud, besides not being the best. There are others I want to replace when I have time for it. It's very time consuming replacing sounds, testing them in game, going back to the sound program to make adjustements, launching the game again to test it, etc.

the holy war soundpack has the player go "unghhh" with some swings..for some reason it didn't evoke porn like 1066, but the contrary, I really liked it. The pack feels more intensive..I forgot to upload it. I'm on it now

1066 has imho very bad sounds no matter how much the devs say they are realistic, hit sounds were like tearing a rag in 2 "scratch" and when hit AAHH like some kid pretended he got shot by a softairgun and letting his friends know he is hit. not to offend any 1066 makers tho.

In real combat people are very tense and when hit they hardly can make a sound more like a NNNGG and you kinda bite your teeth when hurt, not those 1066 relieving and relaxed "AAH im aching"

This pack on the other hand doesnt venture into those things and make a good mix of getting hit sounds and combining it with yelling and general dissatisfaction.

No. But you seriously don't need one. All you do is place the sounds in your native folder.

Very good sounds. Some of the slashes sounded like the enemy's bones were breaking, and one particualr death sound sounded like someone drowning in their own blood

One of the things I love about it is hearing the Vaegir scums' mail clink as I remove their entrails.

I already have a new bow and high armor/high damage sounds, but I'll probably wait a bit more before updating the file.

If you guys think there are other sounds which could be changed or improved, please give me some more feedback.

Like I said before, I think that the weapon-swishing sounds should be replaced by nothing or made much quieter.

Oh yeah, forgot to say I've already done that. I agree it was too loud, but I think it's better to have it in.

how do you get it to work when you open it with DAEMON manager?

I have no idea what DAEMON manager is, and I have no idea what you're trying to do.

I think I provided clear instruction on how to make it work.
