Eligibility
Anyone who wants to play on NA servers.

Registration
Give me your name and the faction you choose.
You will be assigned a location randomly.

Locations are locked on March 30th.
Factions are locked March 30th.
After we get to 16 players there will be a reserve list.
When the reserve list has 8 players, the 8 will join the game.
Registration is limited March 30th to allow only the next multiple of 8 to join.
Registration locked April 3rd.

The Game
Everyone starts alone.
You can attack any enemy adjacent to you.
Anyone you beat joins your team.

Once you have a  team member, you can form a warband.
Warbands can attack anyone adjacent it's members.
Anyone your warband beats will join your team as part of your warband.

Once you have more than four team members, you can organize multiple warbands.
Maximum size for a warband is 4.
Each warband requires a team leader or a captain assigned by the team leader.
All team members of a warband must be connected on the map through the territory of allies.
Warbands can attack anyone adjacent to their members.
Any warbands that your warbands beat, will join your team.

If a team leader loses, they lose control of their team, and join the team that beat them.
If a team leader loses, warband captains on that team become team leaders of their warbands.

The game is won when all players belong to one team.
The winner is the person who leads that team.

The Matches
Solitary - Duel Arena best of 7 - your faction

Warbands - Battle 3 maps best of 3 each - majority faction (not captain's) or captain's faction.
Best of 3 duels by captains for first map choice.
No randomly generated or custom maps.
Never the same map twice in a single match.
Starting Gold: 150%
Bonus Gold: 100%
Combat Speed: Medium (unless teams agree on another)
Round length: 6 minutes
If both captains/leaders agree to different rules, that's fine.

Picking Battles
Players must assign their attackers between the Sunday before and the Sunday of the week they battle.
First to announce their attack for the following week, will get their match.
If they haven't, I will randomly assign matches to them.

Fill Ins
If a warband is missing one player, they play short one person.
If a warband is missing two or more players, they may pick a person to play on their team.
The person they pick can't be from the other team.

When in doubt
Try a majority vote.
If you still can't get to an agreement, I can randomize it for you.

Summary
When you beat someone, they join your team.
When everyone is on one person's team, that person wins.

Matches should be an hour or less.
The estimated duration of this competition is 6 weeks.

Could you state a question, because I am not sure what is not clear?

I mean I am taking stabs at trying to clarify it.

Well to be honest... none of it is clear. I mean what does having a flag do? for instance.

It says "each week a match will be played". How will matchups be decided? I mean the whole groups, teams and flags thing isn't clear at all. I'm not sure about what any of those things mean in the context of the campaign.

EDIT: OK I sort of get the idea now that you've posted the summary. Could be interesting.

Yah, I am tweaking it here and there. The flags are mainly to make the map look really cool so we can see how the teams shifted around over time.

I got a copy of Warband for the prize. Everybody knows somebody they want to play this game with.

This looks like a very fun idea! I imagine an army of 128 is going to be sitting around for a long time waiting for a challenger

Khergits are a viable faction. Interesting.

It also may become very difficult to organize communication once the groups grow. (Teamspeak, ventrilo, etc.)

In any case, this does sound very neat, so I might as well sign up

That is the plan. It's like a big mixer.

What impact do the starting location and faction have? Can you have players of different factions on the same team?
Your faction impacts which faction you can play on the team you are on. The locations are strictly for aesthetics, beside the limit for numbers.

Edited for grammar. I didn't really answer this accurately here. The next post I have has the answer. Like a dummy I simply said that they impact, sorry.

Logistics
1 v 1 - Arena best of 7 - your faction
2 v 2 - Arena First to 7 - either of your members factions
4 v 4 - Find a way to pick your maps. - A faction at least 2 of your members belong to.
8 v 8 - Find a way to pick your maps. - A faction at least 3 of your members belong to.

The faction you or your group plays as in matches is partially determined by what your players chose to start as. I had to go back and edit the 4v4 a little bit ago. I had a gaf in that. I am glad I put the start date back a bit to iron out some of these kinks.

8 v 8 - Find a way to pick your maps. - A faction at least 3 of your members belong to.

So, it is possible to have dysfunctional teams, since there are 6 factions.
Examples:
Team of 4: Vaegirs, Khergits, Swadia, Rhodoks -- Can't pick 2 of the same faction.
Team of 8: Vaegirs, Vaegirs, Khergits, Khergits, Swadia, Rhodoks, Sarranids, Nords -- Can't pick 3 of the same faction.

How's that going to be resolved/avoided?

Logistics
1 v 1 - Arena best of 7 - your faction
2 v 2 - Arena First to 7 - faction of the undefeated player
4 v 4 - Find a way to pick your maps. - A faction at least 2 of your members belong to.
8 v 8 - Find a way to pick your maps. - A faction at least 3 of your members belong to.
If your group lacks the numerical means for compliance, use the faction of the player with the best record.
If there is a tie for best record, just pick between their factions.
What do you think of this solution?

It's okay, if you can make it work. Note that it would require you to collect and track all the stats. (Don't trust the teams to do that )
Another solution is to arrange the match-ups (especially, the initial ones) in such a way that, if possible, common factions are present in both teams.
Example:
1 v 1 -- both opponents must be of the same faction, if possible
2 v 2 -- teams must share a faction (E.g. Vaegir+Sarranid vs Vaegir+Nord)
4 v 4 -- 3 players on both teams must share a faction

That will make teams functional by construction.

Cool.

Thanks for the alternate suggestion.

I want to give teams free reigns of setting their matches.
Edit: Except for those who don't pick their match the Sunday of the next week, I have to randomize the matches for those people.
