The 28th (Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot is a mature active Mount and Musket regiment that has many months of experience. We thrive on discipline in Trainings/Linebattles and Events however when no other events on we switch to relax mode and bond as a regiment and play other games to build friendships.
My aim for the 28th Regiment of Foot is to bring 35 members from the Line Battalion and 10 Skirmishers, I am happy to say we have nearly accomplished that goal, however we require a few more members for our Line Battalion.
Ranks within the 28th Regiment of Foot are not thrown around like toys but earnt through activity and dedication. If promotions drive you then all I can ask from you is to be active show commitment because it does go along however if you are a casual player all I ask from you is to turn up and have fun.
[size=13pt]The 28th (Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot was a British infantry regiment from 1782 to 1881. It was made up of 594 men (37 officers / 557 troops), it was comprised of 8 Center Compaines, 1 Grenadier Company and 1 Light Fusilier Company. Center Company Uniforms [size=13pt]Grenadier Company Uniforms [size=13pt]Light Fusilier Company Uniforms [size=13pt]Officer Uniforms and Colours [size=13pt]For their conduct at the Battle of Alexandria in 1801 the 28th were given the unique honour of wearing a badge on both the front and rear of their head dress, shown in the images above. The 28th Regiment of Foot served throughout the Peninsula War including the battles of Talavera, Albuhera and Vittoria. They were one of the few Peninsula veteran regiments which was available for the Hundred Days campaign and fought in the battles of Quatre Bras and Waterloo as part of the 8th Brigade commanded by James Kempt. Because of their actions in this campaign, they earned distinguished mention in the dispatches of the Duke of Wellington. During the hundred days the 28th continued to wear the old style stovepipe shako, distinguishing them from most British regiments that had adopted the new Belgic shako. The 28th Regiment were the subject to a famous an oil painting portraying the regiment in action at Quatre Bras. |
