Peasant and Noble troop trees
« on: January 22, 2012, 02:02:53 PM »
I am wondering if the troop lines of the factions can be divided between the social classes of commoner and Noble troops. Commoner troops start out as peasants(villages)/townsmen (town taverns) and comprised mostly of the medium infantry and archers of that faction. They can be recurited by anyone that is not hostile with that particular faction. Noble Troops are rarer and can be only recruited by a vassal of that faction and only from the great hall (both castle and town). They start out as squires (for swadia and the Rhodoks) or their equivelants of that particular faction (ie Boyar Son for Vagiers, Ghilman for the Sarradins). The Noble troops represent the heavy infantry and cavalry of the faction

It's a kinda cool system, yeah. Some mods already use it/things similar to it, if I'm not mistaken.
Ye gods you really are as thick as clotted cream, which has been left out by some clot until the clots are so clotted you couldn't unclot them with an electric declotting machine.

It does sound like a really cools system and I guess thats why a lot of mods use that system. It would be great that M&B2 would have that feature in the baseline game

But if even Lord defect while noble troops should be so loyal to be hired only of vassals of their faction? If you are just a random noble or a commoner with huge fame they should follow. For limiting them I would make them cost 2 party size: with the same charisma, leadership and fame you can recruit half of noble troops.

It does sound like a really cools system and I guess thats why a lot of mods use that system. It would be great that M&B2 would have that feature in the baseline game

Can be very difficult to balance. But at least they should make more modder friendly the fact that you can recruit different troops from a faction instead a single one: this should be modded with editor, not with python.

There should be a pheasant troop tree. The elite flying warriors in that tree would present an insurmountable obstacle to all who opposed them.

Really brognar, there is a place for things like that, and it isn't here.
Anyway, this idea could be expanded further, perhaps different regions have different troop trees (I.E the more open lands of Swadia will have heavier cavalry then the more forested areas, which specialize in ranged units.) It's been done in TLD for 1.011, so why not here?
I spit on thou from mine horse, and shoot you with a rusty bolt, I eat Swadian Knights for breakfast, Khergit Horse Archers for lunch and bandits for supper. All with a fine side of Velucian wine, which I find helps wash down those knights morning stars. I am a Rhodok and I will not be suppressed!

Rhodoks werden alle besiegen
The tactic is being untactical.

Piffle. Small jokes are always acceptable unless it's a funeral. Is this a funeral? I think not. :U
Nords ruled by King Ragnar, Khergits ruled by Sanjar Khan, Rhodoks ruled by King Graveth, Swadians ruled by King Harlaus, Vaegirs ruled by King Yaroglek. All those peoples live, fight, and die in the continent of Calradia. The Nords and Rhodoks field solely infantry and archers, the Swadians and Vaegirs have infantry, archers and cavalry and the Khergit field almost exclusively cavalry. No such things as "infarty" or "calvary" exist. A nice link to my mod ;)

This is a funeral, it's just a New Orleans funeral, where people celebrate the dead persons life  :D

Not sure about that. I always wanted some Duckburg wargame. Side with Scrooge or Rockerduck.
