What?
An image upload page which I attempted to make as easy and hassle-free as possible, with moderately short-ish image urls. Exclusively for the use of TW forumites!
Why?
I've seen enough people asking which image upload site to use, receiving dozens of 'em as reply, some of which would be unsuitable for what's needed. Also tired of other image hosts removing the images randomly, blocking them from people depending on location or how often the image has been loaded or anything like that or blocking/watermarking hotlinked images.
"TWim"?!
TWim.
What's the catch?
No catch as such. I'm personally not fussed about what exactly is uploaded there. But I believe the line'll be drawn at child porn and the likes.
Then again, it'll be moderated much like our good Reverend Lamb moderates the forum. Mostly ignored but can strike at any moment for no conceivable reason whatsoever.
Also, only jpg/png/gif images accepted!
Are there any limitations?
Currently it's set up to be able to hold over 60 million images. As far as size restrictions go, anything higher/wider than 4000px will be scaled down. Images over a megabyte (gifs excluded) will also be compressed a bit more (and in case of .png, converted to jpg). These limits are not set to stone yet, though.
Also, it's only for TW forum use. If I'll find stuff to be used mainly elsewhere, the pictures linked onto the other pages will be... resized.
So if it's to be posted over here, feel free to use it. No matter if it's your desktop, game screenshots, photos you've taken, pictures of your favourite people or even of yourself!
Do I need to register/pay/divulge personal information etc?
Nope. It's free (although donations are appreciated and accepted, to keep the server running!) and you "register" automatically when you upload a photo, as long as you're accepting cookies from the server. It'll keep track of the photos you've uploaded and will show 'em to you (and you alone) as a browseable gallery with quickly copiable codes to be pasted on the forum.
The ****ing page isn't showing right/doesn't work!
There's a chance of that happening, yes.
First make sure that you're using a modern browser with modern features. As it is, it's only been tested with Firefox 8. IE should be right out. Chrome/Opera should work, please let me know if they do/don't!
Second, make sure you're not blocking the scripts on the page from running. They're required for the page to work.
Third, ask in this thread!
This is nice and all, but...
Criticism? Feature ideas? They're accepted but will most likely get largely ignored. But then again, there's a chance that they won't!
Also, the 'instructions' text was quite hastily jumbled up, with sleep-addled brane, after long coding run. ("This is your brane on PHP") So if you've ideas how to make that sound better, drop a line!
