Best way to make money.

I've noticed that the better roman troops are really expensive to maintain was wondering what the best way to make money.  I have one ale business in my main city so far but only contributes around 700 and 1000 from my fief.  I saw the salt mine but not sure how it works, you can put slaves to work and guards to guard them but don't know the ratios and you lose morale for some reason.

with the new update, i started as brit, and i d fight grey bands like crazy, giving me a hell of loot.

12 days in game, seven battles fought, 180 troops in command ( over 60 murchurns ) and 23k gold

i play on 100% - i stay completely out of melee if possible.

Yes, fight against bandits/looters, and when you troops got some exp. capture some castle/city.
