Guide by GROM :

I'll make a simple guide about what you can find in the "..\Imperium Romanum\ADDONS\" folder, and how to use it properly.

In this folder you can find couple of options that will let you customize your gaming experience:

STARTING ARMIES:
If you'll start the new game as it is, without making any changes.
You start as a commander of 200 men strong Thracian Auxiliary Cohort.

But there are also other options:

1) You can choose what type of army do you start with.
It's just a starting option, later on in the game you can recruit whatever soldiers you like, and
choose your allegiance to whomever you like.

2) You can choose size of average "bandit parties" on the map.
and so it happens that size of average "bandit party", will be also size of your starting army.
Choices here are limited to 200 men, or 100 men in the "reduced troop numbers X2" subfolder.

Those are not save game compatible.
So if you'll decide to pick a new starting army, you'll also have to start a new game.

IMPORTANT  NOTE:
Sizes of town garrisons and armies commanded by other lords stay the same,
regardless of size and type of your starting army.

Installing:

Example 1:
Let's say you want to start as a commander of Legio II Augusta and
you'd like your starting army and bandit parties on the map, to be around 200 men strong.

copy 3 files: parties.txt, party_templates.txt and troops.txt
from: "..\Imperium Romanum\ADDONS\STARTING ARMIES\Legio II Augusta\"
into: "..\Imperium Romanum\".
When asked if you want to overwrite, click Yes.

Now you can start a new game.

Example 2:
This time you want to start alone, with no army at your command and
you'd like bandit parties on the map, to be only around 100 men strong.

copy 3 files: parties.txt, party_templates.txt and troops.txt
from: "..\Imperium Romanum\ADDONS\STARTING ARMIES\Lone Adventurer(No army)\reduced troop numbers X2\"
into: "..\Imperium Romanum\".
When asked if you want to overwrite, click Yes.

Now you can start a new game.
POLISHED LANDSCAPES:
This mod changes visual aspect of the game.
Makes landscapes look somewhat less cartoonish and more realistic.

You don't need to start a new game.
You can always revert this process at any time, if
you'll make backup copies @(1).

Installing:

1) In case you'd like to revert the changes, if for some reson you won't like them.
Make backup copies of: Data, Resource, Textures folders
from "..\Imperium Romanum\"

2) Copy 3 folders: Data, Resource, Textures and
        1 file: module.ini
from: "..\Imperium Romanum\ADDONS\POLISHED LANSCAPES\"
into: "..\Imperium Romanum\"
When asked if you want to overwrite, click Yes.

3) If you have a slower computer, you can try alternative flora type.
copy: Data folder
from: "..\Imperium Romanum\ADDONS\POLISHED LANSCAPES\Alternative flora_kinds for slower computers with PL\"
into: "..\Imperium Romanum\"
When asked if you want to overwrite, click Yes.

Reverting back to normal:

Delete Data, Resource, Textures folders
from "..\Imperium Romanum\"

Restore backup copies of original folders.

copy module.ini
from: "..\Imperium Romanum\ADDONS\default module.ini\"
into: "..\Imperium Romanum\"

TROOP TREE:
You can also find current Trooptree.xlsx , it's in a spread sheet file format.
If you can't open it try http://www.openoffice.org/ , it's free.

Trooptree screenshot:

Roman Troops can be recruited only from couple of villages in the South-East region called "Centware",
under reign of Legio II Augusta.

sorry for bothering u, but it means, instead of starting with roman army, i ccan then start with briton troops, right?
