Keep making katanas and helmets.  Then start making variations of them.

Why katanas? :? Seems to me a simple yet realistic knife is a lot easier.
Nords ruled by King Ragnar, Khergits ruled by Sanjar Khan, Rhodoks ruled by King Graveth, Swadians ruled by King Harlaus, Vaegirs ruled by King Yaroglek. All those peoples live, fight, and die in the continent of Calradia. The Nords and Rhodoks field solely infantry and archers, the Swadians and Vaegirs have infantry, archers and cavalry and the Khergit field almost exclusively cavalry. No such things as "infarty" or "calvary" exist. A nice link to my mod ;)

Yeah, a successful katana is more difficult than a European sword with a diamond cross-section.

Really? All you need for a katana is a curved blade, a circular guard and a flattened cylinder for the handle.

A politically correct solution is an incorrect solution.
A correct solution wouldn't need to be politically correct.

Yo dawg, I hear you likes sheaths, so I put a sheath on your sheath so you can draw your weapon while you draw your weapon.
I have been called bad before. Some people say I do things that are... not correct to do. I do not believe in such talk as this. I am nice man, with happy feelings, all of the time!

I have a problem, I opened up my project in blender and I can't see the three arrows. They are there when I first open up blender, but go away when I open my object up. :?: :?

The quest for a good broadsword continues.

The overall model w/ Poly count -

The new hilt - added a taper, and made the pommel a bit more oval. I figure it'd be better to grab onto that way. -

And finally, the new crosspiece detail - Old VS New. I'd say it's an improvement. -

I do. Wonder if it pisses English people off that Germany did in three weeks what they spent nearly eight hundred years failing to do.

The new crosspiece is an improvement, but the rain-guard is still wrong.  It isn't a solid block of metal, it's two thin pieces.  But I'll be the first to say that I'm quibbling on that- 99% of video game swords don't bother getting that detail right :-)

Other than that, it's looking pretty accurate and very nice :-)

That's not really notciable in game. besides, that could probably be done in the texturization, couldn't it?

But thanks for the advice, anyway.

It seems like sword art is the order of the day, so here's a short sword I made. The texture is simply cannibalized from Faradon's osp weapon pack until I make one of my own.

I realize that this is a fairly simple sword and that I could easily find an equal (and definitely better) osp sword to use, but I want to get some practice. This one is 398 polies, which is acceptable for medium-level troops, right?

@ Wolfhead: That sword is much better than it was at first! And I think it would be ridiculous to actually model the rain guard correctly unless it was for a "hero" weapon that only appears once. But that's just me...
