I noticed a bug while watching a video of a youtuber playing this. When you wear the andal helmet you get from the quest "Tomb of the Andals" it doesn't show your character's beard if you have one. It makes it look like you have a clear face.

That's an issue with lots of headgear that (apparently) is easy to fix but I have no idea how. Really spoils the Northmen's look as well as they all become clean shaven lol

With Morgh´s (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,105928.0.html) . Just find the item on the list and remove the "covers beard" flag.

Perfect thanks!

Having a look at that now.

Edit: That worked!
Really adds to the North having Open Sallets unticked!

On that, I'd love it if people could quote specific passages from the books. I remember something about house Marbrand (I think) having a company of mounted archers in AFFC.

Do a quick google search of "Come int my castle: The ways of Warfare in Westeros" (Can't post external links) And you'll find a very well detailed thread.

Happy to be of service Cozur!
The sellsword companies in the Free Cities might be good additions alongside the location specific units. To be honest, I don't know how they might be implemented, but each company is rather unique.

On the location specific units now:

  • There's the tiger cloaks - the city guard of Volantis:
A squad of Volantene spearmen stood guard at the river gate. Torch-light gleamed off the steel claws that jutted from their gauntlets. Their helms were tiger’s masks, the faces beneath marked by green stripes tattooed across both cheeks. The slave soldiers of Volantis were fiercely proud of their tiger stripes, Tyrion knew.
-A Dance with Dragons, Tyrion VI

  • The Fiery Hand, the slave soldiers of Volantis in service to the Red Temple of the Lord of Light:
He pointed at the steps, where a line of men in ornate armor and orange cloaks stood before the temple’s doors, clasping spears with points like writhing flames. “The Fiery Hand. The Lord of Light’s sacred soldiers, defenders of the temple.”
Fire knights. “And how many fingers does this hand have, pray?”
“One thousand. Never more, and never less. A new flame is kindled for every one that gutters out.”
-A Dance with Dragons, Tyrion VII

  • The Wild Hares, northern cavalry in service to House Tallhart:
Leobald Tallhart had his turn the following day. He spoke of weather portents and the slack wits of smallfolk, and told how his nephew itched for battle. “Benfred has raised his own company of lances. Boys, none older than nineteen years, but every one thinks he’s another young wolf. When I told them they were only young rabbits, they laughed at me. Now they call themselves the Wild Hares and gallop about the country with rabbitskins tied to the ends of their lances, singing songs of chivalry.”
-A Clash of Kings, Bran II.

  • The Swords and Stars. Comprised of the Warrior's Sons and the Poor Fellows, they are essentially the armies of the Faith of the Seven.
“The Warrior’s Sons were an order of knights who gave up their lands and gold and swore their swords to His High Holiness. The Poor Fellows... they were humbler, though far more numerous. Begging brothers of a sort, though they carried axes instead of bowls. They wandered the roads, escorting travelers from sept to sept and town to town. Their badge was the seven-pointed star, red on white, so the smallfolk named them Stars. The Warrior’s Sons wore rainbow cloaks and inlaid silver armor over hair shirts, and bore star-shaped crystals in the pommels of their longswords. They were the Swords. Holy men, ascetics, fanatics, sorcerers, dragonslayers, demonhunters... there were many tales about them. But all agree that they were implacable in their hatred for all enemies of the Holy Faith.”
-A Feast for Crows, Cersei VI

I would also add the Beaded Priests of Norvos, but there are no passages about them like the ones above which condense the relevant information in a single paragraph. This post has also become a bit huge, so I'm sorry about that. Hope it helps!

That was an awesome read, +1 to you.

An elite true two handed swordsmen for the North would be an excellent addition. Also good news on the lance breaking, was one of my favorite features from 1257.

Any chance of adding banners to the mod for 1.4? It's mostly and immersion thing, but 1257 was able to add a morale bonus which I thought was pretty slick.

Since I rarely venture up North I never noticed this before but I really like the way you've handled Lord Wyman Manderley and Lady Hornwood!
Not all Vassals are front line Generals that's awesome!

Hate to be a bother, but if you already went through and found them all, could you list the item numbers?
Way easier to find them that way.

Cozur, if you're still in a revealing mood, would you mind speaking to any balancing changes you wanted for 1.4?

Or perhaps whether you're interested in adding any "top tier" quest weapons? Namely Ice (or Widow's Wail/Oathkeeper) or Blackfyre? Hoping <3

Also, would you be willing to scale up the experience gain for a few of the quests with minor rewards (for example sticks and stones)? Some of them seem to have more negative impact than positive..

Lastly, will you please please please try to take a look at some of the bugged locations for us? Mainly Volantis (and I know you said you'd fix KL already), but also some of the ones I'd listed as being unable to rescue prisoners from? Or perhaps some of the maps with bugged terrain that units get caught on during battles?

Thanks a boatload if you're willing to do any of these, they'd be very appreciated!

Speaking of KL being bugged, once when I got trapped by bandits I spawned in the city streets but the bandits were nowhere to be seen. I literally had to restart the game so I didn't have to surrender. In fact, a lot of places have the bandits spawning in random places far away from you. KL is the only one I've noticed that actually made it so I could not find them at all though. If you could touch that up it'd be great.

That's the King's Landing bug I had referred to. He's already said he's going to fix it for 1.4, and apparently "nailed a reminder to his monitor" lol

That in mind, I'd HIGHLY suggest not playing in realistic mode. You WILL encounter a bug, and they suck, and you'll waste a ton of work lol

No more valyrian weapons for now, maybe in the future. Never going to add Longclaw.

Some of the quests, like some of the events, are made with the mind-set, if you will, that they should be frustrating as all hell. Just like in the books, and real life for that matter, sometimes you're just **** out of luck. I generally believe games should be a constant struggle, with the player having to expend a considerable amount of energy just standing still, progression wise. Otherwise, you might as well turn god mode on, and blaze through the entire experience, and where's the fun in that.

The bugged locations is tricky for me. I plan to completely re-make Volantis, the map is just not very good. I've never been able to duplicate the King's Landing alley bug, and I have no way of knowing which of the battle maps you consider bugged. However, if you encounter a bugged, but do not know what it's called in the system files, you can still help out. Simply turn ON edit mode, and when you're on a map in need of fixing, enable scene edits, edit the scene, and quit the game. Then go into SceneObj folder, and look at the last modified file. That'll be the scene that was bugged, and if you just report the name of the file to me, I can then fix it.

Thanks for the responses! I'll get on map file finding as soon as possible (might take a little while cuz Edit mode will probably make me crash even more lol)

As for quests, I'd agree wholeheartedly, difficult games are better games, but the reason I brought up quests is that for some of them if the bad outweighs the good, there's no incentive to do them, and that's no fun either.
Difficult games only make for better games if failure isn't arbitrary. The random events provide the arbitrary "bad things happen, that's just reality" feeling, I think you'd be safe if you made quests lean more positive than negative. Or, in an ideal world, if you could figure out how to provide options in the quests, you could make right and wrong choices, and that'd work too I'd think.

Also, you've really never managed to duplicate the King's Landing bug? O.O
That's super weird lol. It's specifically just when you're trying to sneak in, as far as I know.
Would perhaps relocating all the guards to stand in front of the castle gate work?

list of bugged character placement prisoner escape maps
I'll get the actual map files when I can, these are maps that have the player spawn in a location that doesn't make sense (ex: outside a castle with no entrances)

Seagard
Moat Calin
Darry
The Crossing - You can get into the castle, but once you enter the dungeon, attempting to leave gives an error message and tells you "the door is locked" preventing a breakout

+$20, thanks for all your hard work on this mod! God speed in making it even better!

Woah.. for a second i thought i phantom posted.
I guess this means i better spend $40.

Do you think, since he's already in the game, you might be willing to add Jon Snow as a lord in either the Free Folk or the North after the Free Folk come over the wall?

Just a fan request really, but I was kinda disappointed when the mission ended and he just poofs out of existence

Please? lol

In a similar vein, and I haven't completed "The Bastard of Bolton" yet, so I'm sorry if I'm missing something during that before I say this, but any chance Ramsay might become a lord at some point?
He's a thoroughly disturbing and thus interesting character, and does eventually become a lord, in a way, courtesy of Roose's actions.

Any hope for these two?
