How do you get an avatar from a game screenshot?

Use something other than MSPaint.

Take a screenshot, select a small area that you want for an avatar (not the whole screenie), copy and paste the bit and save as .jpeg

If you want to use MSpaint, save in the JPEG format. This can make a "yearbook photo" like 14kb.

Oddly enough, here is a screenshot if you didn't know how to do that (from paint in paint, Hooray!)



That image, which is enormous, is 54k. So that kinda tells you how much JPEG compresses (in bitmap, which is default, it was 1.81 megs).

Anyways, that's how I roll (god I suck).
