I have animation idea's which could litterally be used in every mod to very much add a cinematic experience in M&B. What about proper death animations? For example, when a killer blow is issued out to the opponents torso, a proper death animation is played, where you then see your opponent perhaps fall  to his knees holding his chest/stomach. Also animation while on the floor, such as twitching and showing pain etc.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to death animations, but I think this is something which certainly needs doing.

I would recommend a moving crouch.  That would be perfect for hiding behind wall as arrows fly over your head.

I also recommend more wounded animations. Like after being hit instead of sliding back, you stagger back.  Or when you are hit and static, you hold you side or something like that.

Check the commonres animations.
low_walk is basically a crouch walk (well... sorta)
 
Okay, finally getting going on this again. I think I'll release my work gradually as a single .brf file, updating it to include more animations as I make them. I hope to release the standing and crouching pike-brace animations later today (i.e., within 12 hours). After that (hopefully by next weekend), I'll start on some of the others I have references for, probably the shield-bash.

About requests and suggestions - please remember that I will not be adding any new mechanics myself. I'll be more likely to animate things if I think there's a good chance of them being used, so that means things for which there is already (or is soon likely to be) mechanical support.

My overhead spear animation sucks, imo; I made it in a real hurry, and it doesn't blend very nicely with the release states, due to certain joint rotations.  It really needs to be refined, I just don't have time atm.

I agree it isn't the absolute best, but it is much more realistic than the one in CommonRes....  :lol:

You're making the script for it? You mean I can finally brace my pike as a horse charges at me and kill it? :grin:

I've already heavily revised The Mercenary's spear bracing code that was released for original M&B to use Warband operations and thus be far more efficient. With an actual animation, I plan to make further refinements to remove the 'invisible-horse-killing-beam-of-doom' effect that the code has now. I'm pretty hopeful/confident in a good result given the proper visuals from Papa here :smile:
(But that is probably enough self-promotion...hadn't intended that.)

That makes me so happy because the equine-murder-ray was a big problem of mine quite a while ago. :razz:
 
First release!

I've just uploaded the first .brf file to the M&B Repository. The file contains both a standing and a crouching pike-brace animation. I haven't tested them in-game yet, so expect all kinds of crazy errors. I already know that there are a few dodgy frames in the crouching brace animation, but please report any other issues you come across (like vanishing characters, grotesquely deformed bodies, redirection of gravity, etc. etc.).

Heh, here I was thinking the youtube link would be a clip of the animations in action. :razz:

Edit 03:58:47; oh boy, looks good. Though the animation looks a bit fast at times.

Edit2; somewhat crass to ask, but could you do a standing up brace as well?  :smile:
