Perhaps use the throwing axe animation as a base for the sling animation, then use vertex animation for the rest. Change the 'flying missile' to a rock......

I'll do up a quick test sling with vertex frames and send it to you to test....

Please make it where if you hit X you can use a loaded sling like a club, this was done at least once in every Redwall book I have read so far.

Y'know, that's pretty much it, isn't it?

In other news, I've implemented enough slinging for now. The sling is not animated because we can't really edit how the vertex animations are used. At the moment it uses the normal crossbow reloading animation. Does anyone know how we can use the mounted crossbow reload animation instead of the standing one? That would definitely look a bit better until we get some new animations.

Its not perfect, but its enough for the time being.

Giving the sling melee capability is easy. Making it look good, however, is not. It would be completely static and wouldn't look right. I think we'll have to make do without melee slings.

I can't believe I've only just stumbled across this. I was following benjy wright's game non stop a few years back. Didn't think anyone else had anything substantial going. How wrong was I? Where should i go to catch up on this, or should i just sift through the forums?

Go here to read whats what in the mod.

then post what you think on this forum.

Will do, thanks. I'll help out if i can, but I'm not a programmer or artist, so i can't be of much help there. I started reading the books about 12 years ago though, and i've been rereading them since. So i have a heavy knowledge of all the lore, if that'll help out at all.

The mod has gone through some changes since those days so I think you'd be better off starting at the first post of THIS topic. http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,141589.0.html

If you know the books pretty well, you can make some suggestions, but it would be good if you read a little of what we've been discussing so that you don't bring up things we already dealt with. If you can think of any cool locations from the books that you think would be neat to include, please share and we'll probably make it happen.

If you really WANT to, there's no reason you can't go back to the first thread and work your way through all 105 pages to find out stuff about the mod, but I restated the purpose of this mod when I made a new thread and included most of the artwork and assets that were showcased in the original, so you probably don't have to go that far...

Sorry I havent been on in awhile..
Ok, so here is a list of places with links to there description and location. Some of these places could be for specific quests and whatnot and not very suitable for "villages" and "castles".
  First the "Villages" list

Camp Tussock http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Camp_Tussock

Jukka's Pine Grove http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Jukka%

Lingl-Dubbo Cave http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Lingl-Dubbo_Cave

Noonvale http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Noonvale

Peace Island http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Peace_Island

Tungro's Holt http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Tungro%27s_Holt

Bulrush Bower  http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Bulrush_Bower

Now for the Castles and Fortresses. If there is a Castle that is Lord over a Village I will put the Village name next to it.

Castle Floret, southsward http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Castle_Floret

Castle Marl http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Castle_Marl

Fort Bladegirt http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Fort_Bladegirt

Loamhedge Abbey  http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Loamhedge_Abbey

Riftgard Fortress http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/Riftgard_Fortress

If you would like more in places that seem bare and desolate, just pm me and I'll post it. Or if you want something esle that has to do with research just ask.

Holt Rudderwake... probably awesome create. I'm curious as to how in depth the creation of Redwall itself is going to be. I've seen the screens, but i was wondering whether or not there'd be access to the attics/cellers/bell tower/secret bits like Martin's tomb.

I would like to make it quite accurate. The pictures you saw are old ones from the previous mod attempt. I'll probably make a new one some time. Ruddaring should be good too. We've got a lot of fun locations to play around with. We'll work on finishing Juska weasels, then Salamandastron troops and then I think I'll switch to scene making.

Suggestion: I barely know anything about coding. So don't now if it would be difficult to code, but it would be cool if you could decide if you wanted to attack from the north, south, east or west. Like if you cant break the defenders on the front, then you attack from behind to see if the battle might turn out the way you want it to.

We kind of want to implement something like this, actually. Different options for sieges.

For example, if you're attacking Redwall, you can just climb up a ladder, or you can build an additional ladder to increase your chances, or you can attack the gate with a battering ram or you can tunnel into the abbey. Also you can sneak into the abbey with an assassin and try to poison them. These options should make sieges more exciting and not as boring as the old pattern of sieges tends to get. Don't expect this feature to appear for quite a while...

I have a Suggestion Sorry if its already been Said but are you Including Brockhall? (i Believe its called) Home of the Badgers it would be a Nice Town/Castle for Redwall Or Salamandastron

Brockhall will either be a town as part of the Redwall faction, or a secret location that can be discovered and conquered. It will definitely be featured, since its actually the only location that I have spent a lot of time modeling.

Speaking of which, scene makers would be greatly appreciated about now. Even simple things like mouse villages or something.

If someone volunteers to make some village scenes, I'll take a break from armor models to make some scene objects such as shrew logboats and such.
