So here is what I have been workin on:

Looking down on the fishing village from the cliffs:

1 largeish town. With a keep.
1 smaller village.
2 mines, one better than the other.
1 castle.
The weapons are spread out amongst different traders, not all in one place.
The bank is in the noble district of the main town.
Weapons are spread out and limited to locations and in quantity of places they are available from.
Some secrets.

Just gonna be testing it today. Maybe it will be up on our server tonight or maybe tomorrow.
 
Make sure that you have a few alt. sources of gold though, otherwise some enterprising faction can easily get a monopoly on it.

About more stuff for the field. I am afraid not! See that field was actually full up of 150kb worth of wheat field prop when I took that shot, itjust did not show at that range. Causing me to hit the item limit -> crashes and causing other plant type objects to not show up.

It it cleared of almost everything now but I will try and bring some more life to it once I have ironed out these bugs.
 
Im getting close to finishing my map, its already 75% done. I included a mine in the underground tunnels. Now I need to finish one or two more small urban areas, and then I will start placing the items and gates.

Great map btw Plazek! Only thing I dont like is that hugeass mountain, the texture is way too stretched.

Well done for first-timer, Strongbow.
 
Getting close to completion now, the Imperial Throne Room is almost done, all the factions bases are done with weapons, chests and beds, etc. Rooftoops are walkable, Marketplace is done. Things left to do is adding more atmosphere to the underground tunnels, tunnels up the castle and abit more stuff around the city.

Your most hated enemy aint getting away with a quick death, no sir, you'll drag him into the torture cell where you'll close the gate, grab a wooden stick and beat him up before you stage a public execution infront of the Holy Church or you can just throw him off the castle wall.
 
A trick with the stretched cliffs is to layer on the other cliff texture with less definition and hardness. It breaks up the stretched effect and varies the texture. You can also apply a slight smoothing to the cliff face, it will reduce the height slightly (and dramatic effect) but it does compress the textures back into something more reasonable looking.

I've played around with a few designs today for my own map, although the scope of it simply knocks it out of me and I feel nauseous.  :lol: I think it's important to realise that we don't need six castles for each colour. Why not make them fight for one or two castles? Thereby out-casting those whom remain with another colour; fight for your land! And no ****ing-armory-villages.  :eek:

Anyway, heres my map from birds view, about 10% of the map is hidden beneath the buildings in this pic. Also, it still misses all of the details, I will work on those later.

My map is now finished! It'll most likely contain a nasty bug or two, but which map doesn't? I'll post a full, informative, pictureish post here in 30 min!

And also, Temuzu, your map looks awesome, I'm sure as hell playing a stealthy assassin on your map :grin:

Yeah I don't have a name for it, call it whatever you wish!

It's my first map, believe it or not, that I've ever finished, I was very motivated by forces unseen. So do not expect miracles, I'm a novice, and not everything will look perfect and will most likely contain a bug or two.

It's a city map containing a large city with vast underground tunnels and walkable rooftops. A huge castle(Which I might've overdone.) with several layers containing prisons, torture chambers, secret tunnels in and out of the castle, a throne room etc.

Cavalry will be at a dissadvantage obviously and the map layout should provide more RP then random killings, it's afterall the King's and his 'factions' duty to keep the city safe.

You're obviously free to play it however you wish, allthough this is the scenario I thought of when making it:

The current King is an evil dictator who tortures, inprisons and executes the populace at his whim. His 'loyal' brigades, the Red, Blue, Green, White and Yellow have their small barracks inside the city. While the King entertains himself by throwing off dissenters of his tall castlewall, the different brigades are scheming and plotting, they naturally wish to become the ruler themselves.

They'll gather supporters in the dark, away from the King's eyes and ears and when the time is ripe... revolution, civilwar and bloodbath!

- Was among the last things I added, the Church combined with a platform designed for public executions should remind the people of its place.

- A small barrack, each 'faction' got one, well except maybe the Yellows, whatever. They contain all the basic things you need.

-Rooftops-

- I wanted the city to contain three levels - Underground, surface and rooftops. This is the ideal place for assassins, beware though, you can be sniped from the city walls.

- I knew from the start that I wanted lots of underground tunnels, there are several entrences. They'll most likely be filled with shady characters, enter on your own risk!

- Deep down in the catacombs the brigands now got their own staging point. I wanted to give them some love too, even though I hate you.

-'Secret Legendary' Crypt-

- Some place 'hidden' lies the great crypt of the fallen Legendary Great Sword warriors, become one of them, fight like a champion or it'll be your skull who lies among them.

- I dubbed it the E-peen Tower, the ruler is obviously compensating for something. I wanted to make it big, and it is, it can be seen from almost anywhere inside the city. There should be no doubt over where the ruler lives. It contains several floors with a throne room, prisons, execution chambers, armory, cheap beds for the soldiers, etc. It's accessable from the maingate aswell as two 'secret' tunnels, leading up to the castle.

At first I really overdid the Throne Room, I wanted it to be ridiculously majestic, but after a while I felt that I should be moderate with the props, I value less-lag and flawless playability then overdone-ridiculously-good-looking-laggy scenes. Come on, I'm sure we all want to be able to duel properly without lag.

-Torture Chamber-

-A nice feature, throw in a prisoner, grab a wooden stick, have a buddy lock the room for you with a portcullis and then beat the living **** out of the victim.

-City View-

-As the ruler, this view will be seen alot, I know it will get dull so here's a tip for you: Grab a bow and play marksman with a friend, the targets are the citizens, obviously.

Is there a prison in the torture room? Never mind did not read all :razz:

and is it just one army that controls the throne, and the others have to try and get it? :p

I'm sorry, but its wrong and very anti-social, the huge hill that you must climb just separates everyone.
