Sergeant
Since Ronnix got me thinking about music.

Any suggestions? I am going to use the anti-soundtrack mod with some really good pieces of music. So i'm looking for some powerful moving pieces of art.
Music breaks and makes emotions so.. With that being said, I want some moving pieces of music(doesn't neccesarily mean up-beat) to include in addition to ambient anti-soundtrack.

Something Epic...oh yes:

1. Sons of War http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9fk-IuF8oY

2. Requiem for a dream!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aufGwnrmn1o&feature=related

3. Lucius Dei http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9VahB0MkG0  might be good for campaign map?

4. The Contender http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SGTlrWl1tg

OK, might not really fit the era, so here are alternatives, something more medieval:

A. Medieval Total War: Viking invasion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aID9DqIkuw8

B. Medieval 2 Total War Music - Crusaders http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkPTjIZG97A&feature=related

C: Probably most songs from 'Kindom of Heaven', for town/castle/village visits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ywnt9nB5Ls&feature=PlayList&p=6E9C0A1C162BE7DC&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=13

D. One more for the campaign map: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psp3NQOCfXU&feature=related

PS: For all you epic lovers, one more treat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRLdhFVzqt4&feature=related

hmm...hows about a hardcore death metal emotion for the NORDS!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eABVwEgzIss

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eooG_4T42c&feature=fvst

lol i luv these guys. they are legit Vikings that do death metal & thier videos are awesome.
I know this isnt what youre really looking for, but i just thought i would add this in here
btw, perhaps you can get a few ideas of what weapons/armors/banners or textures to add in the game from these 2 videos.
& as for Roninx's suggestions, i luv them.
I dont mine Lucius Dei http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9VahB0MkG0 for the world map..i mean seriously i am getting soo dam tired of that same song lol.
1 more thing: are the songs from medieval/2 or any other msuic you obtained from games legal to use? You dont want to be using copyright material...but idk if people ever look here for copyright infringements.

yeah I just decided http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRLdhFVzqt4&feature=related
is the theme song..haha epic stuff

"I like it.

Oh haha
I'll decide that when I have everything in front of me and I implement it with ambient sounds.
It'll be with the first beta release

I want to participate too ... first if you can put the "Requiem For a Dream" Theme song, Would be amazing to fight with this one !!!

Some research for you:

Realistic Medieval Songs :

on that three page you have a player, you can just heard them but with Audacity (freeware - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ) you can record the sound. I can't explain you how, I use some commercial programs for that but sure you can found that on google

Arabian Traditional Songs

http://www.ournia.com/mp3/music/rabih-abou-khalil-up-the-downstair_1c3920.html => more than 52 minutes song !! very good for map ... but perhaps it's a complete album i just heard 6 minutes, and they are blank so you can cut what you want with audacity

Various song to download
http://www.jamendo.com/en/tag/medieval => lot of album to download for free. Some are just one instrument, other are more orchestrated, some are very traditional, others are rock or techno ....

Sorry I don't fine traditional Mongol Music without voice ... but here is some issue to find something in European Medieval Music and Traditional Arabian Music ... If I find something else I remember this thread

Requiem for a dream  i just knew someone would suggest it before me. ever since they used it in LOTR (advert or movie not sure) every body associates it with medievil, but in fact the song is called zooyork and from a movie about drugs entitled Requiem For A Dream (hoorah for useless knowledge).

As much as i love my metal, i'd personally stay away from genres of acquired taste, not all people like metal, but most people can tolerate classical/orchestrated music. However, I could imagine fighting as nords to the immigrant song by led zepplin  (I know its rock and yes i'm being an idiot).

I not really like voiced song for an epic game, but if you want metal sound, why not use the great violin quartet named Apocalyptica ?

some great instrumental here:

I'm looking for epic moving vocal music <.<...
But thats just me

thank you for all teh examples, its making selection much easier
if you could pick just 10 tracks list them.

That's all cheese music that gets cut >9000 times a day to bad youtube videos that nobody watches.

If you want a really wide selection of music go to www.radiorivendell.com  (It's a fantasy music internet radio station).  They feature movie themes like tracks by John Williams, Howard Shore or Basil Poledouris.  Poledouris is awesome, by the way... he does a wide range of fantasy style music including themes from Flesh&Blood and Conan the Barbarian.

But yes, give that station a listen and you'll probably hear some tracks that are outside the fairly standard top 5 youtube machinima dub tracks.  The best part is he offers a discography of everything he plays so you can see what the songs are called and then further go forth on itunes (Or Frostwire if 'yarr, ye be a pirate') and download 'em.

I am too busy coding to look for music. That is what you guys are for. Find tracks and suggest them. i'm too busy trying to port everything over since Talesword likes to do back to back patch releases... Not complaining of course. Just saying, keeps me busy

It should be right up your alley

MGS main theme seems to be too modern for me, but The Best Is Yet To Come would fit perfectly for the world map
