Ok my first post, so please don't kill me if I break any rules... thanks.

This thread is about converting the mods for v.731 so that you can use them on your current version (v.751) of M&B.
I posted this thread because of the amount of people asking about this problem is fairly large.

You need: the newest version of M&B, (v.751/v.750) and a v.731/730 mod.

This is how to do it:

The process is fairly easy, so long as you follow what I say.  :lol:

1. Find the location in which you installed M&B .731/.730, go to the modules folder, and copy the folder of the mod you want to convert. (I called the new folder .....for v.751. eg. "Roma Invicta for v.751")
2. Paste this folder in your M&B .751\Modules folder.
3. Go to your M&B .751\Modules\Native folder. Copy the files sounds.txt and skins.txt.
4. Return to your copied .731/.730 folder and paste the files, overwriting the ones already present.
5. Open the file named module_info.txt found in your copied .731/.730 folder and add these lines:
load_resource = food
load_resource = beards
load_resource = armors_b
load_resource = helmets_b
load_resource = village_houses
load_resource = hair
load_resource = deneme
The placement doesn't seem to matter; just don't paste over any existing lines.
6. Load up the M&B launcher, select the copied folder, (eg: "Roma Invicta for v.751") and there you are.

Note that this method does have a few odd side effects. Most of the faces look nothing like they do in .731/730, presumably because the face codes have changed. The sound on the travel map is rather odd as well, playing other sound effects where the walking/horse galloping sounds should be played. Also, some of the human NPCs have black hands. I haven't noticed anything else.
Go have some fun!

I hope my instruction was clear, if theres anything that you didn't get or doesn't make sence please feel free to ask me.

Thanks to those who told me how to do this in the first place, although I didn't take note of any names..

And here is how to change the wierd sound bug by MrJewish:

Quote
How to get rid of annoying sound the simple way (temp fix):

1. In your sound folder, make a new folder, call it BKUP SOUNDS (or something like that).

2. Copy: s_footstep_horse_1b.wav and s_hide.wav and paste them in the Backup folder you just made.

3. In sound folder, Delete: s_hide.wav and Rename: s_footstep_horse_1b.wav to: s_hide.wav.

4. In your Backup folder, make another copy of: s_footstep_horse_1b.wav and paste that in your sound folder.

5. To get rid of those pesky parties on foot making that stange sound. Repeat the above steps...getting rid of (backup first) s_swordSwing.wav ...then... use s_footstep1.wav to replace it (by renaming). I have noticed no ill or strange sounds in battle because of this. It does work, I have tested playing native with these sound changes and I have not noticed any untold strangeness...but anyway, you can always just restore your backups if you need to...

It's worth saying again (though 99% of you know it is the golden rule)..backup anything you mess with...

YES...it all works for 7.51 the same way...

Thanks for that MrJewish.  :)

Thanks Adeptus, we really needed this in the forums. NEW PEOPLE READ THIS THREAD! lol. Also, please not that some mods can't simply be converted, so dont go bitching to people if this method doesn't work. Thank you, and good first post. oh, and welcome to the forums. Bump.

Now, what if we got M&B with this v.751 and tried to download a mod that way?  What do we do then?  Because I am trying to play the mod you mentioned (The Roman one.), I get the 32 sound error, but I don't have the folder for v.731.

Download the mod, put it in your .751 folder, and then continue from step 3.

I followed all of the directions, but when I finished and saved everything, and then tried to start up, I got an error that said

"Assertion failed!

Program: C:\Program files\Mount&Blade\mount&blade.exe
File: e:\develop\mb\rgl\rglstream.h
Line: 439

Expression: buffer.has_more_tokens (Not sure on following character)

For information on how your program can cause assertion failure, see visual C++ documentation on asserts

(Press retry to debug the application - JIT must be enabled)"

Hopefully I wrote all of the right.  If anyone can tell me what that means, please do so.

Thank you all for your positive feedbacks!  :D
I'll tweak the first post so that it says v.751 not v.750. Sorry about that.

Hey MrJewish, which mod are you trying to convert? This method only works for v.731/730 mods so if the mod you're trying to play is older, (like for v.711 or something..) then I don't think it'd work. (which is a pity as there are some good mods back then..)
Tell me which mod your using and I'll give it a go, see what I can do.

Thanks.

The one you mentioned.  The Roman one and the last days one.  (I think that's the name).  I got the Japan vs Mongol one (was made for v.751.)

I see, that's kinda wierd because I got them both working fine for me.
Arrgh.. only if I knew what rglstream and buffer has more token wierdness was all about..  :(
All I can say is that you need the newest version of M&B (v.751/750) and a mod for v.731/730. Could it be possible that you didn't follow the instruction properly or there was something you didn't understand?

If everything did work properly then there should be 2 new (or updated) text document folders in your mod file. (sounds.txt and skins txt) There should also be 7 new lines in the module_info.txt. It should work if all those things are where they are meant to be.

The Japan vs Mongol mod works fine right? If it doesn't then you might need to re-install M&B.
Hope that helps.

I followed everything and re-read multiple times.  I guess I'll have to wait for updated versions of mods.

Arrrgh!!! What's the point of this thread if it doesn't work???
I was certain that it works tho... sorry MrJewish, I don't know why it doesn't work for you, and I don't know how to make it work for you. The only other option for you to play is get some-one to send you the converted version of the mod. Although this might breach some copy-right stuff....

It's fine.  :D

I've been playing to Orin no ran (You know, the Japanese mod).  That is pretty fun.  I guess it has to be upgraded.

But I thank you for trying.  And I salute you for that.
