Renown cap?

Today I noticed that no matter how much i fight, my renown doesn't go over 799. I wonder if there's a cap somewhere? Is it fixed? if it is, what determines it?

Thanks

weird, maybe i've been at peace too long, but i've been fighting against large groups of bandits (and at the beginning it tells me the renown for the battle, like 2 or 3), and my renown isn't moving....

There's no cap that I know of, but your renown will shrink by 0.5% every week.

fixed.

the other thing that makes it hard is that youll gradually receive less renown than what it says on the screen. so if it says 'renown for this battle is 50' youll probably get like 30 or less; the higher your renown, the less youll receive.

but it's okay, since party size granted by renown is just a bonus anyway. the real way to get it is via charisma and leadership--no use having a large party if you cant keep them happy without +10 morale/leadership point.

so it's possible that at renown 799 a battle that says it'll give 2 renown actually gives nothing?

The higher your renown, the less renown you gain for the same activities.  Any time you gain renown, the game takes your previous renown, divides it by 200, then subtracts the result from the renown that you just gained.  In your case, if you have 800 renown, the game would automatically reduce the renown you gain from any event by 4.

If you want to remove that reduction (so that you always get the full renown value no matter what), go to your SCRIPTS.TXT file and find the following:

change_troop_renown -1
31 21 1 1224979098644774912 22 1 1224979098644774913 520 3 1224979098644774914 1224979098644774912 7 4 0 32 2 1224979098644774913 0 2133 2 72057594037927940 1224979098644774913 2123 3 1224979098644774915 1224979098644774914 200 2106 2 1224979098644774913 1224979098644774915

The 200 is the divider I mentioned above.  To remove the renown deduction, simply change this to a very high value, such as 99999.  Or, if you just want to cut the reduction in half for example, you could change it to 400.

There is no limit to the renown you can gain.  Using TweakMB, I think I've gotten it over 10 million just for fun

The point where it's near impossible to get more renown is 1800. I haven't been able to get to 1900 no matter how hard I tried doing multiple tourneys and taking on 100-strong armies with 12 men all in the same week.

Yeah my epic level 40 guy is around 1800-2000 reknown and it does not move from that point anymore.  considering my reknown is higher than most kings I dont really mind.

I believe the highest possible renown you could ever get without tweaking/cheating would be 10,000.  The biggest source of renown is from fighting battles, and the renown you can gain from a single battle is capped at 50.  Once you hit 10,000 renown, dividing it by 200 would result in 50 renown being subtracted from any gain.  Since the 50 renown from a battle is the highest you could get, it would be essentially impossible to move beyond that.

Does feast spamming not get you over 2000?

:EDIT:

Feasts are worth more then battles. I've got 96 for a feast before. Don't know the limit though.

Managed to get 2586 renown that I know of I thought it was higher but this save point might have been after a decay and I could see it going higher since I waited around a lot of time for politics (this is of course on easy settings)

You're right, it looks like you can get quite of bit of renown from feasts.  It's a bit difficult to determine the maximum, as it's a fairly complicated calculation, but it seems to have a lot to do with the variety and quantity of food.

That would explain it for sure  Thanks a lot

i was hosting feasts when i was around 2400 and only got around 14 so even that will have diminishing returns. still nice for the +2 for every lord who visits as that will stay constant.

i agree though, 1800 is a pretty good benchmark of when it gets very difficult if you dont test your limits. this means taking 75 vs. 300-400 or 30 vs 120.

im so tired of bug reporting but im sure that looting villages (where you fight peasants) and taking castles will duplicate the projected renown of the last battle where you were knocked unconscious. this has been unresolved since original m&b x_x (fairly obvious when you get 30 renown for retaking castles of 20 men where you previously got 0 for those of 200 men)

Yeah, 2000 is just about where it gets really difficult. I run around with my little band of nine (eight companions, all decked out in very heavy armor, with two-handed weapons and heavy chargers, plus myself with my trusty war bow on my hunter), and taking on 100+ strong parties I've managed to get it over 2k. But it's really pushing it, and you do nothing else than run around killing things, which ceases to be fun very quickly.

My renown was reduced from 2718 to 2705 recently. If this is 5% then the 100% are 260; so from what exactly value are those 5% reduced?

You automatically lose 0.5% of your total renown every week (not 5%, but 0.5%).  In your case, 0.5% of 2718 would be 13 renown, which is exactly what you lost.
