Okay, this is getting to be annoying. If I place a line of archers on a hill, and 10 meters downwards from them a line of infantry for protection, they will simple NOT fire. While it may have been unrealistic in M&B how they fired centimeters above their own people's heads, in WB I simple can't get enough vertical separation on most maps to make them fire at all, even if there is space.
The most basic tactic - establish a "firebase" and protect it - thus falls to dust. Clever use of infantry becomes impossible, battles are reduced to numbers games decided by who has more cavalry.
While I generally like most of the SP improvements, I hate to see even the already basic "tactical" part of M&B now wasted.
